The purpose or purposes of the Mayme Carmichael School Organization, Inc. is to preserve the heritage of the African American community, promote education, and support the development of the Historical Black School location, which is now Carmichael Park, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.

The purpose for which the corporation is organized is exclusively charitable, literary and educational.

The site’s plans should provide a facility that will enable the “present age” to become knowledgeable of the past and gain an appreciation for the heritage of the Oliver Springs African American Community.  Hopefully, this initiative will encourage future generations to preserve the beauty of natural and cultural history.
